How has the bad economy effected the trading card and sports memorabilia industry?

I stooped collecting almost two years ago when pricing for packs of cards were getting out of control. So for anyone out there who is still collecting have prices on current and past cards come down dramatically? I am thinking maybe its a good time to start picking up some older tops baseball cards if they are cheaper now
