When using cleaner on sneaker left with white residue?

I cleaned my K-Swiss sneakers with a shoe cleaner and a shoe protector (Both useable for sneakers). I noticed a white residue on my "Clic Luxury Edition" K-Swiss (http://www.kswiss.com/cgi-bin/kswiss/store/product_detail.html?mv_arg=x&pid=0001:002) when I cleaned them. What am I dealing with? I tried to clean the white residue off and it comes off then reapears. Am I dealing with a reaction? Can I fix this?
