Orange yellow sticky stuff around my stove, needing some advice.?

I've noticed a build up of this orange-yellowish colored sticky substance on and around my stove. I've found the soft scrub is pretty good at getting it off but I need some advice on the wooden cabinets above my stove. What can I use that won't be too abrasive but yet be strong enough to clean? Soap and water does not work. This stuff kind of has the consistency of tar.
