Spaniards and Mexicans?

Are they similar ?? i mean the spanish where in mexico longer than the aztecs, so they must of had a greater influence on ppl, Why do many Mexican ppl sympathize with the Amerindian when in fact there is less than 10% of real amerindian in mexico the rest is either mestizo or castillo... If you look at the ppl in power in mexico they're all white latinos
